About us

Airways Optical Limited is part of the Specsavers Group and produces spectacle lenses for the UK, ROI and Spanish stores.
The 50,000 sq. feet site at Wide Lane Eastleigh is home to some of the most advanced lens manufacturing equipment available which is needed to keep up with the current demand.

The business started out as New Forest Optical in a small unit in the Solent Business Centre Millbrook back in February 1986 and was the brainchild of Leighton Moat and Jim Davis. Initially supplying mainly local Opticians, the business soon grew which meant moving to 2 larger units and then even bigger premises at Second Avenue Millbrook. (2500 sq. feet).
This is where our reputation rapidly grew and in 1994 with the involvement with the Specsavers Group the name changed to New Forest Vision. As the Specsavers brand grew so did NFV meaning another move to a much larger site was needed.  So in 2001 the business moved to its current site and changed its name to Airways Optical.

We invest heavily in the latest technology, IT systems and state of the art machinery. These continual investments ensure we can meet the challenges ahead.
